The Democracy Of The Family Tree

More than one ancestor is struggling within you!

We are all of mixed blood -- very mixed indeed, but more good than bad.

You have two parents, four grandparents, eight great-grandparents,

sixteen great-great-grandparents, thirty two great-great-great grandparents, and so on!

Go back only 10 generations and you accumulate 2,046 ancestors on the way.

You are descended from possibly 1,024 different people of the generation that saw the Mayflower cross the ocean.

There is nothing so democratic as a family tree, if you climb all the branches.

Albert W. Palmer.
